Introduction to Internet Marketing

Do you have a web site that isn’t working for you? Are you trying to build a new web site and wonder how to keep it from getting lost in the billions of web pages out on the Internet? Let me first say something that may surprise you. The strategy for marketing a product, service, or vision on the web is dramatically different from any other marketing strategy you may have used in the past.

Suppose you develop an incredible web site and throw it out on the web. This is very much like building a wonderful theme park out in the middle of a desert, but then you never build any roads to it. Even if people know the site is there, they have no way to get to it unless they know the actual address (URL) of the site. The process of getting people excited about going there (motivating them), building these roads to your web site, and then telling people how to get to your “theme park” is called Internet marketing. That’s what we specialize in doing.

Take a look at some sites we are working with at http://www.netadventures.biz/results.htm. One site you see here (with the table and graph) had been on the internet for several years but needed some aggressive internet marketing with the release of a new book. In the first four months of hard marketing, the visitor traffic to the site increased over 300%.

Now there are two basic methods of building these roads to your web site. One of these is called search engine optimization (SEO), the other is called social media optimization (SMO). Follow us here and we will look at both of them.

With search engine optimization (SEO), your goal is to design your web site in such a way so that if someone searches in a search engine (such as Google) on certain keyword phrases relative to your product, vision, or service, the search engine returns result pages with your site listed near the top on the first page returned.

With search media optimization (SMO), your goal is to use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Digg, blog, YouTube…) and the related objects such as the videos (in YouTube), updates (in Facebook), pictures (in Flickr) to create buzz that draws people to your site.
We can show you how to set up an aggressive marketing program for your site that can help you get that traffic you need. Contact us today!
